  • ITEM - Boxed Tea Set for Two
    Consisting of Teapot, Creamer, Sugar, 2 Cups and Saucers and Sugar Tongs
  • MAKER - Victoria - Austria
  • MARKS - A Crown with word Victoria over it and Austria underneath - Base of the sugar has the #303 in gold
  • PATTERN - Floral - name unknown
  • DATE – Early 1900’s
  • SIZES - Approximate :-
  • Teapot is 3 ½ inches high to the finial on the cover and 5 inches from spout to handle
  • Creamer is 3 ¼ inches high and 2 ¾ inches from lip to handle inclusive
  • Open Sugar Bowl 2 ¼ inches high by 3 ¼ inches across
  • Cups 2 inches high by 2 ¾ inches across including the handle
  • Saucers 4 inches across
  • Metal Sugar Tongs 2 ¾ inches in length
  • The set is made from fine bone china - the unusual thing about this little set are the sugar tongs
  • Marked with the wording J. Lyons & Co. Ltd.
    J. Lyons (Joe Lyons) ran The Lyons Corner House Tea Rooms
  • The Corner Houses first appeared in London in 1909
  • There were 3 in London situated at Coventry Street, Strand and Tottenham Court Road
  • The one in The Strand probably the most well known
  • Service was given by a waitress in full uniform
  • You would order your cream tea at the table and be served with fine china - "just like this little one "
