Early Polychrome Butter Tub & Plate Ironstone

  • ITEM - Early Butter Tub & Underplate
  • DATE - Mid c1800's
  • PATTERN - Name unknown - Sheet transfer in Green then hand painted with the various colours
  • MAKER / ORIGIN - No maker known but the colouring reminds me of some early Spode patterns - I think it would have been one of the better Staffordshire Factories
  • SIZES - Underplate is 8 inches across, with a well to the centre that the tub sits perfectly in, the tub is 4 inches to the top of the handle on the cover and 5 ¼ inches across to the lugs/ handles on the base
  • Very nice example of the early shaped butter tub and great addition to have the original underplate
    Condition of Item
  • Great condition with no damage and no restoration
  • There is a chip on the handle of the cover but this has been glazed over so would have left the factory that way
